Insulation services for your home

Insulation servicesDo you need to make your home more energy efficient? We can help you to achieve this thermal insulation. With our insulation services we can help in reducing  electricity costs and the energy footprint. It doesn’t matter if it is a new property or an old one, we can still help you achieve a high rating. Building regulation in Malta requires that if you are selling or renting a property to have an EPC certification. What this means is that it tries to rate your home how energy efficient it is. In order to achieve a better rating that will benefit you at the end, we can help you achieve this by using our products as part of our insulation services:

pvc windowsPVC Windows insulation

We have double or triple glazed  PVC apertures. Apart of the noise reduction benefits these help with thermal insulation as they prevent heat from getting inside during summer and in winter reducing heat loss from the inside. Windows must be secured properly. Any gaps or improper fixing could loose all the benefits they provide. They should be installed according to the manufacturer’s recommendation and be properly air-sealed. Air-sealing the window involves caulking the frame  and the operable components weatherstripped.

FibranXPSInsulation boards

This one of the most important parts to achieve persistence to heat flow. Maltese homes are made of stone or bricks. This is not good for thermal insulation.  Heat flow involves three basic mechanisms, which is convection, conduction and radiation. Insulation material reduces this conduction, which walls on their own are not good to reduce it. So how can you achieve this reduction in conduction through the wall? We import insulation boards for this purpose FibranXPS, which are polystyrene foam boards. Polystyrene foam is a good insulation material. These boards can be attached both on the inside or outside of buildings to provide thermal insulation.

Moisture control

Controlling moisture can help in making your home more energy efficient, less costly to heat and cool, more comfortable and prevent mold growth. Moisture is created for the three reasons:

  1. With air currents
  2. By diffusion through material
  3. By heat transfer

Air movement is the major contributor to moisture. This is usually attributed to wholes or cracks in the building. So one way to sort this is to air seal any of these unintended paths that can help in reducing moisture. One way we can help you here is to install windows properly and use insulation boards as explained  above.
In Malta moisture is even enhanced due to lack of proper central heating and controlled ventilation. In old buildings like town houses you can get raising damp due to lack of insulation foundation. This can lead to flaky painting in the ground floors, uneven wall surfaces and blotchy marks. Although not easy to fix without proper rebuilding we can help you reduce the problem by using our cement boards. These cement boards  reduce damp to appear on the inside. Adding our anti-mould paints for the walls could also help in reducing damp to appear on walls.

Proper planning and experienced workmanship can reduce moisture. This is a common problem in Maltese properties. Despite the unattractiveness of moisture, it also has health hazards. Mould in the atmosphere can lead to health issues and mould allergies such as watery, itchy eyes, chronic cough, headaches, breathing difficulties, rashes and other allergic reactions. So to avoid this contact us for our insulation services and we would provide you with professional help to sort out your moisture issues, reduce  your electricity bills and get a higher rating for the EPC certificate.
